Our pregnancy photos are all about capturing the personality and mood of the person. They are a reflection of who you and your family are. How does the pregnancy session work?

After booking your maternity Venice photographer, we will discuss your preferences for the meeting time and places that you would like to cover. If you have your wish list of the locations and some ideas that you like, please send them in advance, and we will plan our route and session.

A maternity photo shoot is a chance to experience elegant maternity photography, which not only documents this amazing period of your life, but also tells the story of your journey to become a mother.

When is the best time for a pregnancy shoot?

The best time to schedule a maternity photo shoot is when the belly is big. This is typically the last trimester of the pregnancy. I usually avoid 9th month because you don’t know if the baby will decide to make an early appearance.

The other reason for choosing to do a photoshoot during 6th,7th or 8th (and avoiding 9th) is because pregnant women usually still feel their best then. During last month of pregnancy there is a greater chance of mother getting hormonal skin issues or just not fitting into any of the nice maternity outfits.

Sunrise or sunset is the best time slot for a photo session. During the sunrise the city is not crowded and it's possible to take photos on the most touristic and iconic locations. During the day and in the evening these locations will be overcrowded. If you are dreaming about professional pictures at St Mark's Square with venetian architecture, we should meet on sunrise.

Late afternoon is perfect time to shoot on authentic places with your maternity Venice photographer. If you prefer water canals, romantic small bridges, narrow streets, then let's meet close to the sunset.

A lot of couples want to take some pregnancy pictures in Venice during a private gondola ride. Gondolas start working at 9:30 am and finish at late night. If you book a sunrise shoot (for example, at 6:00 am) for 2 hours, we can't do the gondola ride. So, late afternoon is better if you want to do the gondola. The price for the gondola is paid directly to the gondolier in cash.

What to wear for maternity photo shoot in Venice?

The most important element of looking amazing in your photos is the photographer. Find a professional photographer with good technical skills and experience. A professional maternity photographer will know how to light, pose and photograph you in right angles. Here are a few tips to help you look and feel your best in your pregnancy photo shoot.

Try a maxi dress. Floor or knee length maxi dresses with chunky necklaces are incredibly flattering on a pregnant body. They focus on your beautiful baby bump while smoothing out and assisting areas you may deem troublesome.

Fitted versus flowy. Wearing a tight, fitted maternity dress that shows off all your beautiful curves looks absolutely stunning. Many women feel uncomfortable doing so, but if you choose a fitted dress you should know that you are more beautiful than you could possibly imagine!

Choose two outfits. A great idea is to have two have two outfits to wear for your pregnancy shoot, such as a casual outfit and a dressy outfit. This will not only give you options when choosing which photos you want to hang in your home, but it will also give you some variety in the photos as well.

Solids are best. You may be able to find a pattern that flatters your body in front of the camera, but cameras can often bodies in patterns. I recommend sticking with solids.

Avoid being too matchy-matchy with your partner. Matching and coordinating your outfits is great, especially for a photo shoot. But if you are both wearing white or black, it will be distracting. I recommend visiting Pinterest and searching the palettes to find complimentary colors for you and your partner. Don’t forget to bring some accessories to make it interesting and just have fun with it!
